About this App
Your channel or supergroup turned into a dump, and manual deletion only works in small batches? Delall bot wipes the whole history with one or two commands. It is irreversible, though, so read on first. 🧹
The bot describes itself as one that deletes all the messages of a channel or supergroup. That is all it does, and that is the point.
Three steps to an empty chat
- Add the bot to the channel or supergroup as an admin.
- Grant these permissions: delete messages, invite users and add admins.
- Send /delall to remove everything, or send /delfrom as a reply to a message to delete it and everything after it.
The second command helps when you want to keep the start of the history and only cut the tail. Pick the message where cleaning begins and reply to it.
Why wipe a history at all
There are several ordinary reasons.
- Channel relaunch. New topic, new format, old posts get in the way.
- Spam attack. Hundreds of junk messages landed in a supergroup and manual cleanup takes forever.
- Test posts. You were tuning the layout and left a pile of leftovers.
- New owner. A fresh admin wants a clean slate.
Why the admin rights deserve a second look
The required rights include adding admins. That is a serious level of access: whoever holds it can appoint other admins and change who runs the chat. ⚠️
Handing it to a third-party bot means trusting its owner with the whole chat. Think twice before doing this in a large channel with an audience and ads.
A practical approach: create a separate test channel, try the bot there, and in your real chat remove the bot from the admin list right after cleanup.
Before you press /delall
Deleted messages do not come back. Telegram has no trash bin, so preparation matters more than the command itself.
- Export the history with Telegram's data export on desktop if it holds valuable material.
- Save anything you want to keep somewhere else.
- Warn co-authors and moderators.
- Make sure you are in the right chat and not the one next to it.
Doing it without a bot
Telegram's own tools let you select and delete messages, but each batch has a limit. For a small chat that is enough. For thousands of messages you will repeat the action many times.
If you only need to clear your own messages, scripts exist that run from your own account and need no admin rights granted to someone else's bot. They take some technical skill, but access stays with you. 🔐
When a channel is merely cluttered, it can be simpler to open a new one and move subscribers with an announcement. Decide by audience size and the value of the archive.
