About this App
You have created groups and channels over the years: for a project, for friends, for an experiment. Then you left one, forgot another, and now cannot say where you are still an admin. What Chats Do I Own? collects those chats into one list.
The bot shows channels and groups where you are the owner or an administrator, even if you have already left them. The regular Telegram app has no such list.
Why your own chats are so easy to lose
On a phone, Telegram has no single page called "my groups and channels". Everything sits in the general dialog list next to private conversations, and a chat you left disappears from it.
If you leave a chat with no other admins, it keeps living, but you can only get back into it and manage it if you know its link or name. This bot fills exactly that gap 🔎
Step by step: getting the list
There is nothing to configure. The whole flow takes a few taps.
- Open the bot and press Start.
- Read the welcome message and pick a chat type with a button: groups or channels.
- The bot lists your chats of that type as buttons.
- Tap a chat name, and the bot sends a message containing that name.
- Tap the name inside that message to open the group or channel.
The bot has no commands of its own. Buttons handle everything.
How it differs from the desktop app
Telegram Desktop has a way to view your chats. Open the app menu and right-click the option for creating a new group or a new channel. But that list only shows chats you own.
The bot goes further and includes the ones where you are merely an admin. It also works from a phone, where the app offers no such option 📱
When it comes in handy
- An audit. Recall all your channels and groups, then decide which to close or hand over.
- Returning to a chat you left. If you left a channel but are still its owner, the bot helps you find it again.
- Switching accounts. Before deleting or moving an account, it pays to know which chats are registered to you.
- Security. See if you still hold admin rights in old chats you stopped caring about.
What to do with what you find
Found a forgotten chat? Decide its fate first. If it is no longer needed, close or delete it. If it matters but nobody runs it, appoint an active admin and transfer ownership.
Transferring ownership in Telegram requires confirmation with your two-step verification password, so make sure it is enabled on your account beforehand. Without it, the transfer is not available ⚠️
How safe is it to use
For this task a bot does not need your password, a login code or card details. If someone posing as such a bot asks for them, it is a scam.
Check the bot name carefully, because Telegram is full of imitators with similar names. Open it from a link in a trusted source rather than from a random message in a chat 🔒
