About this App
Your English chat suddenly fills with dozens of messages in Arabic, Chinese or Persian: ads, spam, odd links. Deleting them by hand gets old within a day. Lang Blocker Bot removes them for you based on the language of the message. 🧹
It is built for group admins and does nothing for ordinary members. Within that task it is very specific.
A filter by language, not by words
The bot detects the language of each message and deletes the ones written in languages you have banned. A Russian-speaking chat, for example, can block Arabic, Chinese and Persian.
All languages are allowed by default. You choose what to block and can bring a language back at any moment.
Three steps to connect
- Add the bot to your group and make it an admin.
- Give it the right to delete messages. It needs no other permissions.
- Pick languages with the /lang_blocker block command and a language code.
Use /lang_blocker check to confirm the installation is correct. If the rights are wrong, the bot tells you. ✅
Commands worth knowing
- /lang_blocker block ru blocks messages in the given language. You can list several codes.
- /lang_blocker allow permits a language again.
- /lang_blocker detect goes in reply to a message, and the bot names its language code.
- /lang_blocker config lists the languages currently blocked.
- /lang_blocker reload_admins refreshes the bot's cached list of admins.
The detect command is handy. If you are unsure what language a spam message uses, reply to it and read the code.
Delete quietly or announce it
The notify_actions setting decides whether the bot writes in the chat about its actions. With yes it leaves a note about each removal, and with no it deletes silently.
In a large chat the quiet mode is calmer, since members do not see noise after every cleanup. In a small community, notices show that the bot is working. 🔇
Where the filter helps most
Language blocking works best where the chat language is obvious and stable. Think local city chats, topic communities and support groups.
- City or district chat. Messages in foreign languages usually arrive from bots only.
- Profession or hobby chat. Members write in one language, and the rest is nearly always advertising.
- Product support group. One language makes the moderators' work easier.
Before switching it on, skim the chat history and make sure real members do not write in the language you plan to block. 🔍
What the bot will not do
A language filter does not replace full spam protection. Spam in your own language passes through, and short phrases or mixed languages are detected worse than long texts.
Pair it with other chat rules: link limits, checks for newcomers and a clear description of the rules.
If your community speaks several languages, a language block will get in the way. Leave it off, or block only the languages that are certainly absent from the chat.
Start with one language, watch for a couple of days and add more as needed. That way nothing extra gets deleted. 👍
