You drop articles, videos and documents into Saved Messages, and a month later you cannot find any of them. Advanced Link Saver is meant as an improved Saved Messages for links specifically. 🔗
It works simply: send an address to the chat and the bot saves it. Later you can pull the link back or file it into a category through an ordinary chat interface.
Why the author needed a bot
The bot was made by a developer called seroperson. By his own account, he wanted to store links fast and see them on all his devices. Ready-made bookmark managers and the Links section in Saved Messages felt awkward to him.
It is a personal project, not a product of a big company. The bot has around twenty monthly active users, but the author keeps a website describing the project and posts about how the bot is built.
Three commands cover everything
The bot has few commands, and that is enough.
- /ls. Shows saved links and lets you manage them: open, remove, assign a category.
- /lsc. Category management.
- /feedback. Send feedback straight to the author.
To delete a link, pick it in the list and press the remove button.
Tidy up in five minutes
- Open the bot and press /start.
- Forward or paste a few links that have been lying in Saved Messages for ages.
- Open /lsc and create two or three categories, such as read later, work, recipes.
- In /ls, assign a category to each link.
Do not create ten categories at once. Three to five are enough for a personal library, otherwise you will spend your time sorting again.
What the bot keeps and what to keep out
The bot stores the addresses you send it. Do not send links with access tokens, invitations to private chats or personal cloud documents: such a link opens access to anyone who sees it.
If you no longer need a link, delete it from the list. For sensitive material, a password manager or notes stored on your device are a better fit.
When plain Saved Messages is enough
If you save a couple of links a week, a separate bot is unnecessary, since Telegram search will find them. The bot makes sense when you have dozens of links and want to split them by topic.
If something misbehaves, use the feedback command and describe what happened. For a small project, feedback from users counts for a lot. 📌
