About this App
A group chat comes alive when a game shows up. There is nothing to install: one command, and thirty seconds later your friends are arguing about whether the word someone just invented exists. On9 Word Chain Bot runs a word chain game in English. 🔤
We cover the modes, the commands and how to set up a game for your chat.
The classic everyone knows
The rule of word chain is familiar from school: each next word starts with the last letter of the previous one. The bot gathers players, tracks turns, checks words against a dictionary and decides who is out.
It is a group game, so you need a chat with friends or colleagues. Words are typed in English, so the game also trains vocabulary. For detailed rules open /help. 📚
Nine ways to play
Modes start with separate commands. Each changes the rules, so the same chat does not get boring.
- /startclassic starts a regular game.
- /starthard turns on hard mode.
- /startchaos starts chaos with unpredictable turns.
- /startcfl sets a chosen first letter, while /startrfl picks one at random.
- /startbl adds banned letters.
- /startrl requires a certain letter.
- /startelim and /startmelim run elimination games, including a mixed one.
Beginners are better off with classic. Once everyone gets the hang of it, try the letter-restricted modes: they make you think differently.
Gathering players
- One member starts a game with the command of the chosen mode.
- Others type /join to enter.
- If the joining time is running low, /extend prolongs the signup.
- An admin can begin the game right away with /forcestart.
- Changed your mind? /flee takes you out of the game.
Not enough people? The /addvp command asks a virtual player to join, and /remvp removes it. That lets two of you practice. 🤖
How to win more often
Experienced players memorize words that end in rare letters. If an opponent must find a word for a hard letter, their chance of dropping out grows.
- Build a stock. Keep short words for each letter in your head.
- Play the letters. Words ending in x, q or z leave opponents stuck.
- Watch the clock. Long thinking costs you a place in the game.
Beginners should not be discouraged: after a few rounds the words come faster. 🏆
Stats and word disputes
The bot keeps score. /stats shows your results, /groupstats gives chat totals, and /globalstats shows an overall ranking. Competing with friends is more fun with a table.
If you argue whether the bot will accept a word, check it with /exists. It tells you whether the bot accepts that word. /runinfo prints details about how the bot is running.
Supporting the bot and keeping peace
The /donate command lets you support the bot's development. It is voluntary, does not affect the game, and the terms are inside the bot.
In large chats agree on rules up front: no command spam, no interrupting other people's rounds, respect for slower players. In groups where the bot must see messages, an admin may need to check the bot's access to messages. 👍
