Mafia Baku Black Bot

bot • Group Chat Games

About this App

Your friends are bored in the chat and cannot meet in person? Mafia works well online as long as someone hosts. Mafia Baku Black takes that job: you add the bot to a group, and it runs the match itself. 🎭

The game handles a company of up to 30 people. Here is how it works and how to get through a first evening without confusion.

A host that never tires and never peeks

In tabletop Mafia one person always drops out of play to be the host. The bot removes that problem: it deals roles, announces night and day, counts votes and reports the results.

Each player gets a role privately, so nobody else sees who is who. That is the main condition for a fair match.

What sets this version apart

The author calls it the "Black" version of the bot. According to its description, the game does not freeze and the bot is constantly monitored. For a group game that matters, since a match of twenty people does not survive a stop in the middle of the night.

Up to 30 people can play at once. For a small circle, six to eight is plenty.

Commands

  • /start. Meet the bot and get going.
  • /lang. Choose the interface language. The bot description is in Azerbaijani, but you can switch the game language.
  • /profile. Your player profile.

Launching the first match

  1. Create a group or pick an existing one where your friends are.
  2. Add the bot and grant the permissions it asks for in the chat.
  3. Pick a language with /lang.
  4. Gather players and open registration. The minimum player count depends on the game rules.
  5. Everyone gets a role in a private message. Open a dialog with the bot beforehand, or the role will not arrive.

How Mafia works in general

Players split into townsfolk and the mafia. At night the mafia picks a victim. By day everyone discusses who looks suspicious and votes to eliminate one person. Townsfolk win when the mafia is gone, and the mafia wins when it equals the rest in number.

Special roles are common: a doctor who saves someone from an attack and a detective who checks players. A couple of roles make the game richer and bluffing matters more.

Tips for a good match

Agree on communication rules. While it is night, do not write in the chat and do not discuss roles with each other in private messages: that ruins the game.

Do not take it hard if you are "killed" on day one. Matches are short, and the next one can start right away. 😄

For large groups, appoint one person to keep order in the chat and remind newcomers of the rules.

If it is your first time, play a trial round with the rules out in the open. Everyone sees how night and day go, and questions come up before a serious match instead of in the middle of one. Add roles and harder debates afterward.

Keep manners in mind too: a game stays a game, and suspicion in the chat should not turn into offense. After the final, reveal the roles and laugh together at the boldest theories.
