Channel Helper: Comments for Your Channel

Channel • Channel Management

About this App

By default, Telegram channel readers stay silent: comments only appear if you link a separate discussion chat. Channel Helper takes another route. Buttons show up under each post, and the conversation runs through a private dialog with the bot. 💬

The bot is open source: a developer known as JogleLew wrote it and published the code. The command interface is mostly in Chinese, but the logic is simple.

Two buttons under a post

Once set up, two buttons appear under channel messages. One adds a comment and the other shows them all.

  • Add comment. A reader taps the button, the bot switches them into comment mode, and anything they send to the bot lands in the discussion.
  • Show all comments. The bot sends a scrollable feed to the private chat. It supports stickers, pictures, video and files.

The channel admin sees the same feed and can delete messages and ban offenders right there. 🛡️

Automatic and manual mode

The mode you choose decides which posts get the buttons.

  1. Automatic. The discussion appears by itself after a post is published. This is the default.
  2. Manual. The owner replies to a chosen message with a command, and only then does the comments block appear under it.

Manual mode helps when some posts are better left without discussion: announcements, schedules, dry news.

Connecting a channel step by step

  1. Add the bot as a channel admin with the right to send and edit messages.
  2. Message the bot privately with /register and forward any channel post when prompted. That is how it remembers the channel.
  3. Publish a new post. If the comments block appears under it, setup is done.
  4. Open /option to change the mode and other settings.

The /cancel command leaves comment mode and /help shows the reference. ⚙️

Where it fits

A channel with a discussion chat works well, but not everyone wants one. Sometimes it is simpler when the talk moves into a bot dialog and the channel stays a clean feed. The scheme suits authors of small and mid-sized channels who want to hear their readers without fuss.

Another plus is the open code. A tech-savvy author can deploy their own copy on a server with Python 3 and avoid depending on someone else's instance. 🧩

What to weigh in advance

Since comments go through the bot, a reader must first launch it and press Start. That is an extra step, and some of your audience will not take it.

Turning the mode off in settings stops the whole bot, so leave that parameter alone without a reason. Moderate right away: open comments attract spam and rudeness.

If you only need a like reaction rather than text, a simpler tool fits better. For full comments, Channel Helper does the job. 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Channel Helper paid?▼
Paid features are not mentioned in the project description, and the bot is open source. If you deploy your own copy, you only pay for your own server. Check the public instance's terms in the bot itself.
How do I turn on comments under posts?▼
Add the bot as a channel admin, send it /register and forward a post from the channel. Then publish a new entry and look for the button block under it. The default mode is automatic.
Can I delete comments and ban people?▼
Yes. The admin opens the feed through the show-all-comments button and deletes messages or bans users right in the dialog with the bot.
Do readers see comments right in the channel?▼
No. Comments open in a private chat with the bot via the button under the post. If you want discussion directly under an entry, link the standard discussion group in the channel settings.
