About this App

A commute, a queue or an evening in a group chat, and nothing to do. A word game fixes that without any preparation: all you need is a vocabulary and a couple of minutes.

The bot "Игра в слова" plays by the last-letter rule, and you can play one on one or with a whole chat.

How a round works

The classic scheme: the bot gives a word, you name the next one starting with the last letter of the previous word. Then the next player or the bot picks up the relay.

Words cannot be repeated within one game, so the end of a round gets hard. In Russian words that end with a soft or hard sign, players usually take the previous letter, so nobody has to hunt for words that begin with it.

Twelve commands, each with a purpose

The bot has a rich menu. Here is what is in it:

/start and /stop. Begin a game and end it.
/word. Remind you of the letter your word must start with.
/next. Replace the current word if it is too hard. Swapping may cost some points, so use it sparingly.
/guess. Get a hint when your mind runs dry.
/new_game. Vote for a fresh game, handy in a group chat where members decide together.
/info. The rules.
/add_word. Suggest a word for the database if the bot rejected a real one.
/me. Your current stats.

Leaderboards: play for a spot in the top 🏆

Competitive players get three tables. /topsingle shows the 25 records set in a single round. /topusers lists the 25 best players. /topchats gives the 25 chats with the most games played.

Records and rankings turn the game into a contest. Among friends it easily becomes an endless argument about who builds the longer chain.

Playing in a chat, not alone

The bot can be added to a group chat, and then several people play at once. It is a good way to wake up a quiet conversation: everyone contributes a word, the chain grows, and disputed cases get settled with a joke or a vote.

A private conversation with the bot is enough for solo play. It works for vocabulary practice, for instance before a game with friends.

Why the game is useful

Word games train memory, quick thinking and vocabulary. Kids and students also reinforce spelling, because a word the bot rejects has to be checked. If you are learning Russian as a foreign language, it is an easy way to recall nouns.

A practical tip: think a few words ahead. If you know a word ends in a rare letter, it can leave your opponent stuck.

What to settle before you start

In a chat with many members, the bot can flood the conversation with messages. Agree on rules and decide in advance who may start and stop the game, so you do not disturb everyone else.
