CryptoKitties: ALL THE ZEN game

Even people who never bought an NFT know CryptoKitties. In 2017 these digital cats put so much load on the Ethereum network that the news covered it. Years later the game came back in Telegram in a new form: a slow idle game about eggs and Zen energy. 🥚

The profile calls it "a most eggceptional game", a pun on the word egg. It starts right inside the messenger, so there is nothing to install.

Who made it and why

The studio behind it is Dapper Labs, the creator of the original CryptoKitties. The game was announced in early September 2024 and opened to players on October 1, 2024.

The developers described it as a teaser for the brand's bigger return on its own Flow blockchain. Most Telegram games run on TON, and this one is built on different technology.

What you do in the game

The idea is "tap and wait". You hatch eggs, the eggs give kitties, and the kitties produce Zen. You spend Zen on upgrades that speed up production.

• Eggs and kitties. The core of progress: more kitties mean more Zen.
• Upgrades. Saved up Zen buys boosts.
• Temporary Fancy kitties. Unlike the original, these are not permanent NFTs but rare visitors who stay for a while.
• Fancy Parades. Random events where rare kitties show up.

What about rewards

The developers said progress in the game should open access to airdrops tied to the CryptoKitties brand. In a later interview they mentioned that more than 250 thousand people had tried it.

The team sets the timing and size of rewards, though. An airdrop stays a promise until tokens reach your wallet. ⚠️

Early access and wallets

At launch the first to get in were owners of the original kitties and people who linked a Flow wallet. Everyone else joined in turn.

If the game asks you to connect a wallet, use a separate one with a small balance. Never enter a seed phrase.

Why bother if you are not a collector

People like idle games because they take little time. A couple of visits a day and progress runs on its own. It is a calm way to fill a few minutes in a queue.

As earning it does not work. Token linked rewards are unpredictable, and a token price can be very small. 🙂

Practical tips

1. Open the game only through links from the official CryptoKitties channels.
2. Do not buy eggs or kitties from strangers in private messages.
3. Do not pay for boosts until you understand what you will get.
4. If the app shows as unavailable, wait: the service may be under maintenance.

The game remains a gentle door into collectible digital creatures. Just do not expect more from it than it promises.
