You want to hear a surah on the commute or before sleep, but hunting for the right recording across websites and players is a chore. AudioQuranBot puts it into one chat: choose a surah, and the bot sends you the audio. 🎧
There is one reciter, a well known one: Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary. His reading is unhurried and clearly articulated, which is why his recordings are often picked for memorization.
Three commands and nothing else
The interface is minimal, and that is the point. All the control fits into three commands.
- /index opens the list of surahs so you can choose one.
- /help explains briefly how to use the bot.
- /about tells you about the bot itself.
Run /index, tap the name of a surah, and the audio arrives in the chat. From then on it sits in the conversation like any other file.
Why listening in a chat is handy
A recording you receive stays in the chat history. You can pause and come back later, jump to the part you need, or forward it to family. No separate app or account is required.
To listen offline, save the file to your phone. Telegram lets you download audio and open it in any player.
Who al-Husary was
Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary (born 1917, Egypt) is counted among the best known Quran reciters of the twentieth century. He was among the first to record the entire Quran in the murattal style, a measured reading that follows the rules of tajwid.
That pace suits beginners: words do not run together, and it is easy to follow along in a printed mushaf or a translation. 📖
Getting more out of each listen
- Open the text of the surah in a printed or digital mushaf.
- Start the audio and read along with the reciter.
- Repeat short verses aloud, pausing the recording after each one.
- Return to the same surah several days in a row until it comes without prompts.
If Arabic is still new to you, keep a translation of the meanings nearby in a language you know. Listening is beautiful, and understanding is better still.
What the bot does and does not do
The bot does one job: it sends surah audio. It has no translation, commentary or verse search, and other tools exist for that. The welcome message and bot description are in English.
The bot's source code is open, and its author has published it. That is reassuring for people who like to know how a service works. But the project is small and may not be updated often, so do not count on frequent new features.
Habits that show respect for the text
- Volume and place. Many people prefer to listen to the Quran in a quiet setting rather than as background noise.
- Headphones. On the road they keep the sound from disturbing others.
- Backups. Save the surahs you need to your phone, since a chat can be cleared by accident.
- Checking. For memorization, compare with the written text and, if you can, with a teacher.
The bot description mentions no prices, and nothing in it asks you for payment.
